Thankful Thursday

This week I am particularly thankful for...
1. Girlfriends
Last night a group of friends went out to dinner. One friend is moving soon and we wanted to get together before they left. It was so great to get away and relax and chat. So sad to have this friend moving.

2. Lazy afternoons
I was so tired yesterday afternoon that I spent about an hour and a half outside laying on a blanket and reading a book while the kids played. It was bliss. And I didn't even think once about all of the other things I should have been doing! I just completely enjoyed it. (Of course I was then rushing around to make dinner before I left for dinner, but it was totally worth it.)

3. YW Leaders
Miquelle has some fabulous leaders. They have been working so hard to get ready to participate in the Temple Celebration this weekend at the Conference Center. Her leaders have been great!

4. Our Temple
Wow, I can't believe it is done! It has been quite the unique and amazing experience to watch a temple being built right in our neighborhood. We can't wait to see the inside! The open house starts next week, go here for information about open house tickets.

5. Warm spring/summer weather
It's hard to believe that it is almost June. I just love this in between weather where we don't need the heater anymore but we don't need the air conditioner yet either. LOVE it!

A quick update...

Miquelle asks me almost everyday if I posted on my blog that day. Things have been so crazy around here! So here is a really random update...

*Our grass is finally looking green thanks to some spring rain and the sprinklers turning on. And we have the most beautiful flowering cherry tree in our front yard. I love this tree.

*I have discovered many things by having twins. One thing lately is that two are much more brave than one. Cole and Cagney do things that my other kids never did. Lately it is going outside to play and disappearing. They want to be outside with the other kids and I think they are more willing to wander further when they are together. We are still working on this one.

*The boys had haircuts yesterday and they all look so handsome! At Cookie Cutters you never know who will cut their hair for sure and it seems like I'm usually not as happy with how one of them turns out, but yesterday they were all great! Jared even said as we left that he really liked his hair.

*I have been painting and painting and painting. So much that my shoulders and arms are so sore! I'm done with our cupboards and now Trevor is in the process of putting handles on the cupboards and drawers. I love them they are looking so good! Ok, so quick question here about the cupboards. Underneath our kitchen sink we have a drawer front but it isn't really a drawer. One of us thinks that because it isn't a drawer it doesn't need a handle, and one of us thinks that it needs a handle so it matches the other drawers. WHAT DO YOU THINK? I have also painted the walls. The color swatch looked more brown/green to me but the walls turned out much greener than I thought they would be but I'm pretty sure that I like it. Still getting used to it. I still have a few more things to do in the kitchen, then I will post photos. But for now here is a little preview...

*Painting the kitchen has made me want to paint other parts of my house too. That always happens to me.

*I got a new calling at church. I had been teaching Relief Society for the past two years, now I am teaching primary. It is the oldest class and there are two boys and four girls. They are really good kids! Last week was my first week teaching and I could not believe how quiet they were! I'm really excited to be back in primary, it has been awhile!

*They boys are in their third week off track. They have had fun. It has been really busy with haircuts, dentist appointments, Dr. appointments and such. That is one thing that I like about year round school, being able to fit in all of those appointments. Miquelle only has a couple of weeks of school left, then things get pretty crazy for the summer.

*I have had a bunch of daisies sitting in a pitcher that once belonged to my grandma on my kitchen table and they have made me so stinkin' happy! I just love them.

*We went to a Real game last weekend. It was our first in the new stadium. It was fun, they boys loved it, Cole and Cagney got bored pretty fast, the Real lost.

*We went to the zoo again last week. Elephants, rhinos, monkeys, giraffes, and my kids spent at least 30 minutes watching this tiny caterpillar.

*My sister and my niece and I got pedicures on Saturday and it was so GREAT! I love when my feet are pretty and happy.

Living on the edge or stuck in the middle.

I'm not a big fan of chocolate but I LOVE brownies. Most specifically the edge of brownies. Trevor got me this brownie pan for Mother's Day and it is awesome! We have had brownies twice since then. It is heaven. Every piece is an edge. YUM! So what about you! Do you like the edge or the middle??

Lost and Found

Every mother of a child that has a comfort item knows the panic that comes when that comfort item is lost. A couple of months ago when we went down to Kanab we realized when we got home that we did not have Cole's blanket. It had been shoved way down under the covers of one of the beds and we totally forgot it. I felt awful. We called the hotel that night and they hadn't found it, called again the next morning and still no blanket. Someone called me about an hour later and told me they had it and I wanted to crawl through the phone and hug them! I told them to overnight it to me and Coco was so happy when it got here the next day. Phew!

Fabric

I have to add one thing to my words about our bags. My sister and niece Julie went and shopped for all of the fabric before hand. (My sister is a quilter and she got it at a quilt store in Sandy called Quilts Etc.) They did such an awesome job! We were all so happy with their choices and none of us chose the same one. I thought everyones fabric totally fit their personality.

Julie picked a floral pattern that had blue, off white and red and a red polka dot pattern. Julie is so red. Vibrant and cute and fun. And totally polka dotty too. (That is a REALLY good thing GOO!)

Kristine picked purple and brown. She always looks totally put together with a hint of sophistication. Just like purple.

Stacy picked pink and brown. Totally sweet and friendly and calm.

I picked kind of funky almost mismatched fabric. I think it is so cute but bordering on scatter brained too.

Thanks girls! It was so fun!

Thankful Thursday

1. Nieces
I'm the youngest so I didn't have any little sisters, but I have lots of nieces that I adore. Last weekend we were able to attend the baptism of my niece Brooklyn. She looked darling and was so cute and happy. Then later that night we had girls day at my sisters house and I got to spend the evening with some other awesome nieces! We ordered chinese food and made really cute bags. I have to say here too that I am so thankful for a mom and sister that sew. They were so nice to help everyone else with their bags and didn't even have time to make one of their own. It was such a fun evening.

My nephew decided to make a bag for his girlfriend (how CUTE is that?) and impressed us all with his sewing skills. He has a sad face here because his bag wasn't finished yet.

We even figured out how to add a pocket and that wasn't even in the pattern. Yes, I know...probably really easy for most people but this was quite a big deal for me!!
2. Great Nieces
I have a great niece now too! Although my kids just call her a cousin. That works! This is Cagney with Kalianna.

3. Sleeping in
My boys are off track so I have been able to sleep in this week until about 8:00! And even if I'm not sleeping it has been great to at least stay in bed longer. I love it.
4. No cavities
All five kids had dentist appointments yesterday. Five for five, no cavities! Phew!!
5. Open windows
I love this time of year when we can have the windows open and feel the breeze.

Wicked Fabulous!

Last saturday was finally the day we have been counting down to. We got to see WICKED at the Capital Theater! I loved it even more the second time. When we saw it in Denver we were way up in the balcony, this time we were on the 3rd row. I loved to see it from both perspectives. Here are some bits and pieces....

*Elphaba was fabulous! Loved her sarcastic sense of humor. " Yea, well not everyone can travel by bubble!" She had an amazing voice. I simply can't imagine what it would be like to be able to sing like that. Well I can try to imagine and I think it would be awesome! Loved her green skin. How do they do that? I truly think she is even greener in the second act. We saw the actress outside after the show and she still had green in her hairline.

*Galinda was adorable. I laughed so hard during the "popular" scene. She was just perfect for the part and had an amazing voice as well. Loved her funny lines and silly way of talking. "It's good to see me isn't it? No need to answer, that was rhetorical." "I don't understand why you can't just teach us history instead of always harping on the past." We also saw this actress outside the theater walking by with her dog...suppose his name was DoDo?

*Our seats were amazing. It was so great to be able to see so much emotion.

*I loved when Elphaba first came on stage. Everyone cheered and she hadn't even opened her mouth yet!

*Love the different perspective of the story. It is not a remake of the Wizard of Oz by any means. It is a totally different story.

*Lemons and melons and pears. Oh my!

*"Fiyero and I are going to be married."
"He's asked you already?"
"He doesn't know yet."

*This show makes me laugh and cry. My favorite kind of show.

*Taking Miquelle with us was just awesome. What a great show for her to see as her first Broadway show!

*The only character that I didn't like as much as the first time was Fiyero. He was very good looking (like all Winky princes should be) but I didn't like his voice as much. I thought this Fiyero had more of a broadway "jazz hands" voice, the other Fiyero was more edgy and "rock and roll". At least that is how I imagine Fiyero to be.

*I already can't wait to see it again. Hmmm...I wonder where we should see it next time? New York? London? You never know!
