Thankful Thursday

My niece Kristine has been so helpful in getting my blog started. This is something that she does on her blog and I think it is a great idea and one I wanted to have on my own blog. So here goes!

1. My washer and dryer.
I do about 17 loads of laundry a week. That would never happen without a washer and dryer that are still running even though they are getting very old.

2. So you think you can dance.

Confession, I love reality TV. Not all reality TV but there are certain shows that I never miss. This one is my favorite. Maybe I love it so much because I can't dance. At. All. I have no rhythm or coordination. I just love to watch these people who have such a passion and love for what they do. It is a great show and always on in the summer. Another reason to love it.

3.Libraries
I love to read and could never own (or store) all of the books that I read. The library is just full of books and stories and people that I just can't wait to read about. I also love that I can manage my account online. Putting books on hold and just picking them up or re-newing books online so I don't have to pay late fees is just so convenient. Another thing I love about the library is that it is FREE! (Except the $7.25 I owe in library fees right now. Clearly I don't always remember to re-new those books before they are due.)

4.Chapstick
I can't live without it. My favorite is the cherry flavored menthol.

5.Our new kitchen table

We had a kitchen table that had six chairs. Then Cole and Cagney came along and we were a family of seven. It was fine for a couple of years because they had their high chairs, but haven't used them for the past year or so. Since then we would either be crowded at the small table or some of us would eat at the table and some would sit at the bar. We have wanted a square black table for months now and I finally found one on ksl.com. (Their classifieds section is great!) I love a good bargain. When we picked up the table they asked us if we wanted the benches for $10 each. Yes please. Now we just need to get four black chairs. We love our table. I'm so thankful to have a place where we can all sit down and eat together again.

Utah Weather

Raise your hand if you are tired of this very inconsistent spring we are having. I know, I know we need the moisture but do we have to have it everyday?? This morning when I woke up I could tell the sun was shining. I thought it would be a great morning to take the kids to a nearby park where there is a great playground and a paved path (so I can walk while the kids play, twice around is a mile) around soccer fields, AND there is a bathroom. Don't you hate parks that don't have a bathroom? Who thought of that? Parks are for kids...you need a bathroom.

So I told Cole, Cagney, Gabe and Miquelle that we were going to go to the park to go for a walk right after Cole and Cagney had a bath. Well by the time we were done I was hearing thunder, and it was windy and raining. So frustrating. I was going to post today about how glad I am that it finally feels like spring. I'm sure rain was probably in the forecast, I just didn't pay attention.

In Utah we don't have to wait long for the weather to change. The sun will probably come out again this afternoon.

Cute things kids say

One of our favorite bed time snacks is graham crackers dipped in milk. Lately Cagney calls them
MILKEY CRACKERS!

A person's a person no matter how small

Miquelle was recently in the Jordan Ridge Elementary production of Suessical Junior. The whole family fell in love with this story and music during the months that she had her rehearsals. She played one of the jungle animals, a parrot named Jayjay. If you ever get the chance to see it, take it! It will make you laugh, cry and probably think a little bit more about how you treat all of the people in your life...no matter how small.

Life is so much more fun with Lightening McQueen on your feet. KACHOW!

We went shoe shopping today. Cole and Cagney were in need of some summer footwear. Cole took one look at these Lightening Mcqueen crocs and there were no other options for him. Normally I try my hardest to steer my kids away from character clothing but I just couldn't not give in to his excitement about these little shoes. Now I'm really hoping that someday he will learn to put them on by himself. Girls just seem to have this ability to know how to dress themselves, boys not so much.

Jared is nine and he still seems to have this trouble. "Jared that shirt and shorts don't match, go and pick a different shirt."
"I'm not a girl, how am I supposed to know what matches and what doesn't!"
