Last saturday was finally the day we have been counting down to. We got to see WICKED at the Capital Theater! I loved it even more the second time. When we saw it in Denver we were way up in the balcony, this time we were on the 3rd row. I loved to see it from both perspectives. Here are some bits and pieces....
*Elphaba was fabulous! Loved her sarcastic sense of humor. " Yea, well not everyone can travel by bubble!" She had an amazing voice. I simply can't imagine what it would be like to be able to sing like that. Well I can try to imagine and I think it would be awesome! Loved her green skin. How do they do that? I truly think she is even greener in the second act. We saw the actress outside after the show and she still had green in her hairline.
*Galinda was adorable. I laughed so hard during the "popular" scene. She was just perfect for the part and had an amazing voice as well. Loved her funny lines and silly way of talking. "It's good to see me isn't it? No need to answer, that was rhetorical." "I don't understand why you can't just teach us history instead of always harping on the past." We also saw this actress outside the theater walking by with her dog...suppose his name was DoDo?
*Our seats were amazing. It was so great to be able to see so much emotion.
*I loved when Elphaba first came on stage. Everyone cheered and she hadn't even opened her mouth yet!
*Love the different perspective of the story. It is not a remake of the Wizard of Oz by any means. It is a totally different story.
*Lemons and melons and pears. Oh my!
*"Fiyero and I are going to be married."
"He's asked you already?"
"He doesn't know yet."
*This show makes me laugh and cry. My favorite kind of show.
*Taking Miquelle with us was just awesome. What a great show for her to see as her first Broadway show!
*The only character that I didn't like as much as the first time was Fiyero. He was very good looking (like all Winky princes should be) but I didn't like his voice as much. I thought this Fiyero had more of a broadway "jazz hands" voice, the other Fiyero was more edgy and "rock and roll". At least that is how I imagine Fiyero to be.
*I already can't wait to see it again. Hmmm...I wonder where we should see it next time? New York? London? You never know!

Yay for you! I forgot you took Miquelle- bet she LOVED it too! And see, I told you Trevor would get lots of use out of his vest :) Love your outfits- you guys are so coordinated!
And I think you ought to head to London and I should too...let's speak to Mechelle about it :D
Thank you for this post! It brought back so many great memories from the night we went to see it. Wasn't it great? We were up in the balcony/nosebleed section, so I didn't get to see the emotion on the faces, but man...I loved EVERY second. I want to see it again so bad! If you take a trip to see it again, can I come? Please, please, please??? :)
Come see it with us in AZ! We have tickets to see it in July. I read the book (Highly UN-recommend the book by the way- ick!) but I've seen such fabulous reviews of the Broadway show. Casey and I are super excited to go see it, even more so after this post.
